TENSEGRITY

Tensegrity floats weightlessly in an atrium void. It offers a thought provoking look into the forces of nature and a visual parody that has light supported and floating without obvious means.
The entire structure is 15m long and weighs in at just 245kg, allowing the use of a lightweight truss mechanism to lower it for maintenance and cleaning. Only when it is lowered do you get a true concept of the scale of this installation. The light rods are over 2m long and 80mm in diameter.
Each light rod has an aluminium core that has been wound with LED tape to boost output and provide a clean non-lamp imaged surface.
It is also a very energy efficient installation using just 24w per rod (5m x 4.8w per m).
