Perihelion refers to the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid or comet that is nearest to the sun.
The design is a complex tensegrity structure of self-supporting elements that do not touch each other and are held in position by tensile cables it is 3.5m in diameter and when stretched out in a straight line measures just over 10m long.
